At the age of thirty-one, Caesar entered into the political system so that he could follow the steps to become a counsul. He was successively elected into maby offices.

  • Quaestor, who is in charge of military and civic treasurey of Rome and also kept the records.  Caesar was in Spain when he was in this office.
  • Aedile, who supervises public works such  as the markets. Caesar used this to his full advantage. To buy favour he bribed people, held public shows, gladitorial contests, as well as games and banquets.
  • Pontifex maximus was the next political position and the most important duty for them was to preside at state ceremonies.
  • Praetor, who is in charge of the judiciary or court system of Rome.
  • Propraetor, Caesar governed Spain.
